PPLN RPE Waveguide

Lithium niobate optical waveguides utilize proton exchange methods: Annealed proton-exchange (APE) replaces lithium ions with hydrogen via benzoic acid reaction, followed by annealing to restore nonlinearity. Reverse proton exchange (RPE) reintroduces lithium ions to optimize hydrogen distribution and mode symmetry. Combined with quasi-phase matching (QPM) through periodic ferroelectric domain polarization, the Periodic Poled Lithium Niobate (PPLN) RPE waveguide achieves 0.1dB/cm propagation loss and 0.5dB fiber coupling loss at 1550nm, attaining world-class technical specifications.
